This Indian Standard specifies the construction particulars and other requirements for fibre main cores used in steel wire ropes. It covers two types of fibre: natural (jute, manila, sisal) and man-made (polythene or polypropylene). The standard is not applicable to ropes for mine hoisting purposes.
